Arcturus Networks Inc releases Motorola Coldfire 5272 based virtual private networking and residential gateway reference platform
Toronto, Canada - March 27, 2002 -Arcturus Networks Inc. a leading
innovator of embedded firmware and hardware solutions today announced
the availability of the uCdimm™ ColdFire™ 5272 embedded microcontroller
module, an extension to the popular uCdimm family and featuring the
powerful Motorola MCF5272 microcontroller.
Geared toward the development of next generation smart embedded LAN/WAN
routers, firewalls and Virtual Private Network (VPN) devices, the uCdimm
features dual Ethernet ports 10/100BaseT/10BaseT, high speed serial
ports, uClinux™ embedded operating system, 8MB of SDRAM and 2 or 4MB of
Flash. The uCdimm is ideal as a LAN/WAN interface, smart firewall or
embedded VPN solution because of it's easily integrated 1.6 in x 2.9in,
144pin soDIMM form factor. The uCdimm also includes a single cycle
multiply / accumulate (MAC) engine for DSP, making it very attractive
for industrial control applications.

provisioning via a simple XML enhanced web interface or SNMP client.
Secure Data and Routing firmware is also available which includes
tunneling, authentication and encryption to enable the fast deployment
of VPNs and secure networked devices. The optional Arcturus firmware
makes the uCdimm 5272 a complete plug-in solution giving developers the
security and control functionality they need, without investing the time
money to develop it.
Pricing and Availability
The Arcturus uCdimm ColdFire5272 reference kit including uCevolution
development platform is currently available for $1495. The kit
includes hardware, uClinux royalty-free embedded OS and documentation,
OEM modules are available for $95 (1K volume). The uCdimm ColdFire5272
kit can be purchased on-line at www.arcturusnetworks.com. optional MIB
Management, Secure Data and Routing Firmware suites are available
